After FBI attacks on Carmel and Bloomington houses, coalition supports IU doctor

According to the American Association of University Professors, Professor Xiaofeng Wang has been terminated by IU.

CARMEL, Ind. — In a letter to the Indiana University rector, the American Association of University Professors is protesting the dismissal of Professor Xiaofeng Wang.
Wang’s properties in Bloomington and Carmel were raided by the FBI on March 28.
Wang was listed as a teacher at the Luddy School of Informatics, Computing and Engineering, but his report on the school’s site had been removed as of Monday, March 31. An archived version of the site listed Wang as the Director of the Center for Security and Privacy in Informatics, Computing, and Engineering and the Director of Secure Computing at Luddy. &nbsp,

A notice from the coalition protests Wang’s fire, saying the school did not follow its own rules in ending Wang. It says, in part: &nbsp,

” We are aware of media reports indicating that Professor Wang is under investigation by law enforcement. While the results of those investigations may finally carry on Professor Wang’s continued visit at IU, the simple fact of an investigation or of unadjudicated allegations may defend failure to comply with university policies on the part of the administration. It is important that people are presumed honest until proven guilty”.

Wang and his wife both personal two houses that were searched by the FBI. The FBI has not confirmed what they were searching for, if Wang or his family were the subjects of the search or what the investigation was in relation to. Neither Wang nor his wife have been formally charged with any crimes. &nbsp,

The FBI had only affirm they conducted” court-authorized law enforcement action” at the two houses. &nbsp,

Properties raided in Hamilton and Monroe regions

Relatives captured videos and pictures when Carmel authorities assisted the FBI in serving the search warrant on Shakamac Drive in the Park Meadow division off Illinois Street just before 8: 30 a. m. March 28.

Relatives say the officials announced “FBI, come out”! over a loudspeaker.

A girl came out of the house holding a phone. A film from a neighbor shows an adviser taking that phone from her. She was therefore questioned in the street before officials began searching the home, collecting information and taking pictures.

A vehicle was pulled out of the car slightly to help investigators to get the attic.

The girl left the house before 13News arrived. She returned only after lunch accompanied by a solicitor. The group of 10 or so authorities left a few minutes after.

The FBI did not say what they were looking for or who is under investigation. A commission spokesperson issued the following speech: &nbsp,

” I can ensure we conducted court-authorized action at the handle in Carmel now. We have no further comment at this time”.

Authorities were at the house for about four days before leaving with many boxes of information. 13News rang the doorbell when the officials were gone. A lawyer representing the family who answered the door told us they’re not sure but what the inspection is about.

The FBI confirmed to 13News that officials also conducted” court-authorized law enforcement action” at a house on Xavier Court in Bloomington Friday. The same partners owns both houses that were searched.

We believe the pair works at Indiana University on the Bloomington college. But IU referred us to the FBI for opinion. The family attorney told 13News he didn’t know if the investigation was related to their jobs. &nbsp,

13News is not naming the couple because to our knowledge, no one is under arrest or facing any legal fees at this point in the research.
