General Motors: Story, technology, and legacy
Learn about General Motors ‘ rich history and significant innovations, from its foundation in 1908 to its leadership in electric and autonomous vehicle technology.
- General Motors is strengthening its association with Nvidia to include AI technology into its factories and cars.
- In addition, GM intends to use Nvidia’s Drive AGX components in its cutting-edge driver-assistance systems to expedite the development of autonomous car technologies.
At Nvidia’s monthly GTC conference in San Jose on Tuesday, General Motors and Silicon Valley tech company Nvidia announced a partnership with them for artificial intelligence and accelerated cloud-to-car calculations.  ,
Nvidia’s chips are already being used by GM to teach artificial intelligence models, and the company is now partnering with it to teach robotics platforms for precise welding, material handling, and transportation. According to GM CEO Mary Barra, the company’s goal is to make room for itself for its labor in the flower to concentrate on automobile manufacturing.
” GM has enjoyed a longstanding partnership with Nvidia, utilizing its ( graphics processing units ) across our operations,” Barra said. AI “helps us create smarter vehicles while empowering our workforce to focus on craftsmanship” says the statement” AI not only optimizes production processes and accelerates digital screening.”
One project that the expanded partnership will support is the production of “digital twins” of actual assembly lines, which will improve the design and operation of mechanical assembly plants and reduce downtime on the line, according to GM.
The largest artificial intelligence event in the world, the device maker’s monthly GTC conference, features 400 exhibits and over 2, 000 speakers that discuss the most recent developments in AI. Agentic AI, which are advanced artificial intelligence systems like chatbots that can work without the need for strong human intervention, robotics, and accelerated computing are some of the topics covered at this year’s event.
GM intends to deploy Nvidia’s Drive AGX hardware in upcoming sophisticated driver-assistance systems in addition to other business applications. According to GM, the cards deliver up to 1, 000 trillion operations per minute of high-performance processing, which can speed up the adoption and implementation of autonomous car technologies.
Following business leaders ‘ calls for President Donald Trump’s administration to speed up the rollout of self-driving vehicles, the partnership statement comes.
