A boom in artificial intelligence ( AI ) technologies of all kinds was born from the popularity and notoriety of generative artificial intelligence technologies. Companies fought protracted battles to either develop their own AI techniques or hire AI vendors to incorporate the technology into their operations. Legislators and regulators have been drawn to this growth despite the law’s struggles to keep up. For instance, the European Union’s AI Act’s meaningful provisions will become effective on February 1, 2025, and a landmark AI bill was passed by the Colorado state legislature in February 2026. Existing laws even implicate Iot, such as in the protection, intellectual property, and work spaces.
