According to , Broadcom and Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company ( TSMC) are looking into possible acquisitions of some of Intel.
Broadcom is reportedly considering an acquisition of Intel’s chip-design and marketing company, and would want a companion for the company’s production company, while TSMC is apparently looking at controlling some or all of Intel’s chip plants, possible as part of an investor consortium.
All conversations have been tentative, the Journal says, with everything submitted to Intel. Obviously, President Donald Trump’s administration is urging TSMC to strike a deal, but a White House official said the administration was unlikely to support a deal that would give a foreign company control of Intel’s factories.
Intel’s struggling organization appears to have made it a goal for chip-making competitors as a result. In September, The Journal reported that Qualcomm had contacted Intel regarding a invasion.
