Prior to the launch of its large-language model ( LLM) last month, the Hangzhou-based start-up was only two years old when it was founded by a hedge fund called High Flyer.
It challenges conventional wisdom regarding the cost of producing these items in addition to the hegemony of similar US items like OpenAI’s ChatGPT.
In subsequent month, the company has launched two strong AI types – DeepSeek-V3 and DeepSeek-R1– which were built at a fraction of the cost and computing power used by US tech giants for their products.
Nvidia’s shares fell as a result of the news, which sent additional AI-related stocks down.

Another surprise was that a Taiwanese firm had been able to achieve this in spite of US restrictions.
