Southern Miss launches AI, a study hub for security to increase student opportunities

The University of Southern Mississippi is currently operating a new student hub for computing research that is centered on cybersecurity and artificial intelligence ( AI ) thanks to a foundation grant. &nbsp,

The Jimmy A. Payne Foundation recently provided cash for the Computing Research Hub at Southern Miss, part of a larger grant program that also provides funding for 16 other jobs on the Hattiesburg school. &nbsp,

Last year, the Payne Foundation, whose late namesake Jim Payne was a Southern Miss student and substantial boost, made offers totaling$ 502, 689 through the USM Foundation to support 17 jobs across all four academic institutions at the school. &nbsp,

The Computing Research Hub will have access to a number of community-focused, research-focused resources designed to” transform the learning experience of undergraduate and graduate students” in the School of Computing Sciences and Computer Engineering ( CSCE). &nbsp,

” Our goal is to enable students to explore ideas, innovate, and result in the ever-evolving technology landscape”, director of the study hub and School of CSCE professor Dr. Nick Rahimi said. ” Through active mentorship and a collaborative, hands-on research environment, we will equip our students with the skills and experience needed to be ready for life” .&nbsp,

Under the direction of university and doctoral mentors, Southern Miss students will have the opportunity to work on important research projects, grant proposals, and magazines. AI, security, system understanding, and emerging technology will take center stage for work done in the hub. &nbsp,

The hub will even connect students to regular seminars, workshops, and networking events, opening more doors for students that lead to exclusive learning experiences and professional opportunities. &nbsp,

” By transforming our research engagement, we will prepare our students here at Southern Miss for graduate studies and industry careers”, Dr. Rahimi concluded. I’m grateful to the Payne family and the Jimmy A. Payne Foundation for their unwavering support in achieving our vision.
